Meet Paul
Hi, I’m Paul Scawn. I have run Abode House Clearances since 2004.
I have been through it all; moving house and losing my parents. I was fortunate enough to not have to dispose of their items immediately.
But in time I realised that my children won’t want all of it. And so I held onto some special pieces and let the rest go.
If you are faced with clearing out the home of your parents or relatives, my advice is to take out a few things that mean the most to you and let the rest go.
It’s the memories that matter, not the material things. And you can always take photos of furniture to keep a record of the items.
Our Experiences
Over the years we have discovered unusual things like social history items and photos from the past.
A postcard, a missing in action letter, news of a prisoner of war. To document or keep it alive.
Meant more to them.
There in 30 years time, played part, they can make that decision). Not about the money. Don’t want to see it go to waste.
Example old piano 300 years old. Not worth a bean. Had special legs at front. Sometimes take those off and use them to make other furniture. So well made, unscrewed, put in auction house, recycle. Patina and history. Got soul around the old oak
